Tiger Technology has released Tiger Bridge 5.2.2 for Windows, a maintenance update focused on improving the overall reliability of the platform. It addresses a meaningful set of issues across several areas of the product - from source storage handling to the end-user interface - making it a worthwhile upgrade for existing deployments.
Storage Reliability and Cloud Compatibility
A significant portion of the fixes center on storage reliability and compatibility.
- Automatic space reclaiming on NAS sources is now restored, eliminating the need for manual workarounds.
- Support for ReFS volumes has also been improved, as using the root of a ReFS volume as a source could previously lead to system instability.
- On the cloud connectivity side, Tiger Bridge now supports the latest Spectra S3 protocol implementation on BlackPearl targets, resolving compatibility issues including failures to replicate files larger than 4 GB.
A Smoother Experience for End Users
The release also brings noticeable improvements to the user experience.
- An improved mechanism for notifying when a file retrieval completes provides a smoother experience when accessing stub files on demand and eliminates application hangs.
- The Undelete feature has been refined - the Undelete button is now correctly disabled when there is nothing to undelete or an operation is already running, and inaccurate file count and size reporting during undelete operations has been corrected.
Tightened Installation and Tray Application Behavior
Finally, several improvements tighten up the installation and tray application experience.
- Installing the shell extension with all commands enabled now works as expected.
- Commands in the tray application that require elevated permissions are now clearly marked and will correctly prompt for administrator credentials.
- Additionally, the tray application now prevents multiple instances from running simultaneously, reducing the risk of conflicting operations.
